The Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies (IICPS) at Turning Point, in partnership with Dublin City University, offers a 3-year Graduate Diploma and a 4-year MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The Institute's philosophy embraces, first and foremost, a particular attitude towards the practice of psychotherapy that affirms the importance of a unifying approach to persons. Thus a major focus is on responding appropriately and effectively to the person at emotional, spiritual, cognitive, behavioural and physiological levels. The theoretical orientations are an integration principally of those of Carl Rogers (client-centred) and Roberto Assagioli (Psychosynthesis).

The course runs over one weekend each month from September/October to May/June.

On successful completion of Year 3, DCU awards candidates a Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma and meet certain criteria may continue to the MSC Year 4. On successful completion of MSc Year 4, students receive an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin City University. The Institute also offers a Clinical Year 4 that can be taken concurrently or separately to the MSc Year 4.

The Graduate Diploma is recognised by the European Association of Psychotherapy (EAIP) as having met their training standards requirements and prepares students for accreditation with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. In order to meet requirements for the IAHIP (ICP/EAP), students must successfully complete the clinical Year 4.

Interested prospective students are required to complete a detailed application form, including 300 words on their desire to train as a counsellor / psychotherapist.

Those selected for interview will:
· Normally have a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience
· Have a primary degree or equivalent professional training in the medical or social sciences, humanities or related fields
